05/22/13 - Billerica Firefighters All those affected by the tornadoes have been in the thoughts and prayers of the Billerica Firefighters Local 1495. Specifically, Dennis Grove of Moore, Oklahoma. Dennis is an instructor for the IAFF and has conducted training for the Billerica Fire Department in the areas of Confined Space Rescue and Hazardous Materials. |

IAFF response to deadly tornado outbreak in Oklahoma

Here is an update regarding the IAFF response to the deadly tornado outbreak in Oklahoma.
To start with, first responders are being asked not to self-dispatch themselves to Oklahoma. You will only be turned away. There are enough fire fighters on scene to handle the job.
Assessments are still being made as to how many members are affected and what they will need. |

05/22/13 - IAFF 3711 It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that we have lost Brother Albert Nehmeh on the line of duty. Albert, who worked for Tacoma, was working a code when he himself went into cardiac arrest. Albert later passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. The memorial service will be Friday May 31st, 2013 at 1300. |

Yesterday we watched on the news the loss of life and property, those precious things we are sworn to protect, destroyed in Oklahoma. The sad news is at least 24 people, including nine children, were killed, according to the Oklahoma state medical examiner's office. |

Line-of-Duty Death
It is with great sorrow that WSCFF and IAFF Local 31 Tacoma report the Line-of-Duty death of Albert A. Nejmeh. Tacoma Firefighter Al Nejmeh died in the line of duty of a heart attack the evening of May 14, 2013. Al passed away while performing CPR on a citizen of Tacoma.
Al served faithfully on Tacoma Fire Department Ladder 2 since January of 2001. |

05/21/13 - IAFF Local 3038 Lincoln-East Millinocket Ambulance Service, a joint venture between East Millinocket and Lincoln, is scheduled to take over area EMS responses July 1. PVH has approved a measure which will end their EMS service and donate their ambulances to East Millinocket and Howland. |

295 Rescue Box

At approximately 0630 hours Tuesday May 21st, 2013 IAFF Local 281 Members responded with Truck 45 on the initial dispatch of a Rescue Box on the Baltimore Washington Parkway. Truck 45 and Anne Arundle County Engine 291 arrived simultaneously to find one vehicle off the roadway, approximately 30 feet down a ravine with at least one trapped in the vehicle. |

On Monday May 20th, 2013 Fort Meade Garrison Commander Colonel Rothstein was a Firefighter for the day, or at least a few hours. Although there were no calls for him to respond to during his time at the station, the Colonel did assist the Driver of Engine 452 with his daily preventive maintenance checks and performed other duties while he was at the station. |

05/21/13 - IAFF Local 892 At 13:34 on May 18th, numerous calls were received reporting a structure fire at 609 Boswell Ave. Headquarters and Engine 2 were dispatched, along with Mohegan Tribe for RIT. E2 was first due and found heavy fire on the C side of a 1 1/2 story wood frame house. Two lines were in operation with possible extension to the attic. |
